Convert a Markdown table for Slack

Slack does not support Markdown tables: pipes and dashes show up as-is. Paste the table generated by an AI assistant, a README or a wiki and TableToSlack turns it into a table Slack displays properly.

    Markdown to Slack: FAQ

Is bold or code formatting kept in the Slack table?

No. Slack displays table cells as plain text, so * or ` characters would show up as-is. TableToSlack removes these marks by default; uncheck “Remove Markdown formatting” to keep them.

Why doesn’t Slack render Markdown tables?

Slack uses its own “mrkdwn” syntax which has no table support. Tab-separated content is the way to get a table in a message.

Can I paste a table generated by ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Copy the table as Markdown (or copy the rendered table) and paste it here; both are supported.

How do I make a table in Slack?

Slack displays a table when you paste tab-separated values (TSV), the format spreadsheets put in the clipboard. Paste your data in TableToSlack, click “Copy for Slack” and paste in your message: Slack shows a proper table.

Why does my Markdown or CSV table look broken in Slack?

Slack does not support Markdown tables, and pasted CSV stays plain text. Only tab-separated content becomes a table. TableToSlack converts your table to that format.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. All the conversion happens in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and the site has no analytics.
